The Countess of Fife

Saturday 26 September 2026, Dunbar Parish Hall

The Countess of Fife is the alt-country outfit led by the unmistakable Fay Fife, best known as the iconic frontwoman of Scottish punk and post-punk favourites The Rezillos and The Revillos. Beginning life in 2016 as a songwriting project, The Countess of Fife has grown into a richly atmospheric band rooted in country, punk, gospel and vintage rock ’n’ roll.

With Fay on vocals and keys, the band brings together some of Scotland’s finest musicians, including Stuart Nesbit on guitar, Al Gare on double bass, Willy Molleson on drums and Kirsten Adamson on backing vocals and guitar. Their sound has been described as everything from “a Celtic Ronnie Spector” to an unholy meeting of The Cramps and Johnny Cash — dark, twanging, soulful and full of character.

Their debut album, Star of the Sea, released through Last Night From Glasgow, was warmly received, reaching the UK and Scottish album charts and selling out its initial vinyl runs. The band’s second album, New Phone New Car New Man, continues the story, bringing together Fay’s gritty, melodic songwriting with a cast of formidable collaborators and a sound recorded in the wilds of Scotland.

Live, The Countess of Fife are vivid, charismatic and full of swagger: a band with punk spirit, country soul and a frontwoman who knows exactly how to hold a room. Expect songs of love, survival, reinvention and restless motion, delivered with style, wit and no shortage of bite.
