Dunbar has been celebrating live music for over 30 years. Each September, our beautiful coastal town comes alive with a diverse, family-friendly programme of musical entertainment, much of it local talent, at a range of different venues.
Established as a celebration of traditional Scottish and Irish folk music in 1988, over the years the Festival’s range of music has broadened to appeal to a wider range of tastes.
With the formation of a new committee in 2020, we changed our name from the Dunbar Traditional Music Festival to Dunbar Music Festival to better reflect the diverse musical programme that aims to engage a broad spectrum of local residents as well as attract visitors to the town.
Looking ahead to the Festival in 2021
The Festival is not-for-profit, and run by an enthusiastic group of volunteers. We rely on the sponsorship and support of local businesses and donations made by the many people who attend our programme of free musical events each year.
