A refreshed approach

We have changed our name from the Dunbar Traditional Music Festival to Dunbar Music Festival to better reflect the diverse musical programme that aims to engage a broad spectrum of local residents as well as attract visitors to the town.

In addition to attracting recognised performers from various musical categories and backgrounds the Festival will seek to create even greater opportunities to showcase and support the exceptional musical talent being nurtured through the Dunbar School of Music and other local creative organisations.

Diverse musical talent

This is not just the chance to catch local bands and performers owning the stage in their home town however. For the first time ever, the Festival will incorporate a masterclass strand, with workshops designed to support young artists and musicians from across East Lothian.

Traditional folk music from Scotland will still feature strongly as part of a diverse musical programme and we look forward to sharing some of this country’s most exciting sounds and singers with you.

A proud history

Since 1988, live music has rung out across our town, from pubs and restaurants to local church halls. However this Festival is for the whole community to enjoy and we look forward to unveiling some exciting and surprising new venues and partners taking part in September 2021.
