We have been welcoming visitors from all over the world to the Festival since it began in 1988 and we guarantee that the welcome and surroundings are as magical as the musical performances you will enjoy.

Things to do in Dunbar

The area is a nature lover’s paradise, with beautiful beaches and country parks nearby.

Enjoy first class surfing and golfing, or simply stroll one of the prettiest high streets in Scotland. 

Little ones are equally well catered for thanks to the swimming pool’s legendary wave machine, large kid’s parks and multiple locations for ice cream.

Travel to Dunbar

Getting to Dunbar couldn’t be easier thanks to our excellent public transport and road links.

Rail: Our railway station is on the Edinburgh to London line, and all gigs at the Festival are within 15 minutes walk. Edinburgh by train is as little as 20 minutes away, while the trip from Newcastle takes 70 minutes.

Bus: Regular bus services connect Dunbar to towns across the Borders, East Lothian as well as Edinburgh. Stops on the High Street and by the railway station are conveniently close to our venues.

Driving: Dunbar is located on the A1, approximately 30 miles south of Edinburgh and 30 miles north of Berwick on Tweed.

Staying in Dunbar

Dunbar is home to a number of excellent hotels, B&Bs and self catering options including the five star Belhaven Bay Caravan Park situated on the edge of John Muir Country Park.
